7 Social Media-Worthy Food Joints to Try on King Street West

7 Social Media-Worthy Food Joints to Try on King Street West

It is no secret that Toronto’s entertainment district is home to some superb food joints, and social media is key for the development of their reputation and for Torontonians finding them.  At Pinch Social, we often say “phone eats first!” – because food can be as tasty to your Instagram followers as it is to your tongue.

Here are our top 7 joints and dishes to Instagram and taste while in the King Street West neighbourhood:

1. When you say Pizza, we say Libretto

Whether dining in or grabbing it to go, our go-to pizza joint, Pizza Libretto, offers a variety of neapolitan-style pizzas (think thin, charred crust baked in a wood oven.) Their spelt crust is a great substitute for anyone looking to cut down on wheat intake, and if you’re lactose intolerant, ditch the cheese! Their crust and toppings stand on their own. The Ontario Prosciutto pizza is a personal fave. #PizzaLibretto

2. Sweet Jesus Ice Cream Indulgence

From coffee drinks to soft serve ice cream, each one of Sweet Jesus’ sugary delights will more than satiate your sweet tooth. What sets Sweet Jesus apart from Toronto’s other top ice cream joints is their toppings:ice cream ratio; For once, you can enjoy multiple toppings with every bite – which bodes well for your tongue and for that mouth-watering social post. Choose from hearty toppings like brownie crumble, marshmallows, birthday cake (that’s right – cake is the topping in this case) and more. Oh, and they even have a vegan option – the Bounty Killah! #BlessYourMouth

3. Eggs for Breakfast at Bar Buca

Bar Buca offers Buca-quality food and drink in a casual and affordable atmosphere. Grab a morning coffee, food at anytime (breakfast/brunch/lunch/dinner/apps; they have it all) or an evening cocktail – Bar Buca serves it all. They also happen to do uova (eggs) rather well. Get your protein fix with their weekday breakfast or weekend brunch – We highly recommend their Uova Rossa dish! #BarBuca

4. Something Cocoa-ey from Cacao 70

Relatively new to the area, Cacao 70 is a chocolate-lovers’ dream come true. In the words of their owner, “chocolate is an ingredient that brings people together.” Drop by with friends for dessert, or dare to chocolate-for-brunch on a weekend. S’mores, step aside for their Chocolate Marshmallow Pizza! #Cacao70

5. CurryVrst at WVRST

Toronto’s food scene is exceptionally vibrant and diverse thanks to its multicultural citizens – and WVRST is no exception. Escape to Germany with authentic sausage, rye bread and beer at King West’s long-time staple. Oh, and their duck fat fries are debatably Toronto’s best fries. Change it up and order your sausage currywurst-style (sliced on rye bread with curry sauce). Their Bison sausage is a personal fave. #WVRST

6. Brunch fit for a Beast

Tucked away in a residential part of the King West neighbourhood, Beast Toronto offers Canadian meat (fit for a beast) in an intimate setting. Known for their freshly-baked biscuit sandwiches (including house staple; The Beastwich) and maple-bacon donuts, a healthy appetite is the only requirement. Quick tip: arrive when they open at 10 am – Beast Toronto is no longer the local secret! #BeastBrunch

 7. Sushi Burrito from Pokito

Take sushi, then a burrito, add it all up and you get Pokito! Also new to the area is this California-trending poké joint. Packed with veggies, fish and rice, the sushi burrito is a great power lunch option to get you through the day. Dine in, or Ritual your food to go. Their Thai Coco Shrimp is a must-try! #PokitoCanada
